Last weekend I had the pleasure of modeling in a collaborative shoot with my friends Brizzy and Emma. It turned out to be an experience I’ll never forget.
I love surrounding myself with creative people who know more than me. I love being on the set of a creative shoot and making creative decisions. I’d love to do this for a living, and this weekend was a taste of what that life could be like.
Brizzy, a lifestyle photographer part of Brizzy Rose and Emma Photography, and now friend, organized this entire shoot on her own. That’s impressive in itself. Not only did she coordinate everything, she coordinated the best group of women from all walks of life to share it with.
We started the day getting ready at a beautiful downtown loft kindly leant to us by Morgan Bagby. Ashlea Spears, blogger and stylist, dressed us in beautiful consignment pieces from Belle Monde Boutique in St. Matthews. Clara Gomez created smokey, rustic eye looks for some of the models and Leslie Dale finished off the rest of the group with daring hair and makeup looks.

After we all finished putting our looks together, we moved to the shoot location at a gorgeous home for sale near Iroquois Park. The house has recently been flipped and is staged to perfection by House of Crowns Interiors. It made for a great complimentary backdrop for us all. I was tempted to buy it right then and there.
But what happened in between, and throughout the day, was the crux of this whole experience. The inclusivity, diversity, and warmth shared between everyone and shown on camera was palpable. A few of us said, “When is the last time a room was filled with only women making decisions like this?” It’s absolutely true.

The beauty in our different looks, backgrounds, and voices came together so seamlessly. I can’t tell you how honored I am to be a part of this project and to have had this experience. I don’t often find myself in a room with such diversity, but find it entirely important. We’ll never learn how the world really works if we only surround ourselves with people who look and act just like us. Thank you Brizzy for sharing these people with me. They’re all powerhouses and genuine.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Louisville is filled with creatives and this shoot proved me right once again.
If you enjoyed these photos, please reach out to the women behind the scenes to support a female-owned business. They’re all super talented and at the top of their game.
