A Tale of Two Camel-color Coats

After a two week blogging break, I’m feeling a little rusty right now. But 2019 is officially in full swing and it’s time to get back on the horse. How did you ring in the New Year? What are your resolutions for the year ahead? I want to hear what you’ve been up to and what you’re planning for 2019 in the comments.

In today’s post I want to share with you two beautiful camel colored jackets that have come into my life recently. Both relationships have been brief, but fulfilling like a summer fling you don’t want to end. Except you’d want to go on a break with these two during the summer.

First up is this Belted Teddy Biker Jacket. Yes – a teddy coat and a biker jacket in one. It’s like music to my ears. 2018 was the year of the Teddy Bear coat. Retailers sold them in all shapes, sizes, and colors and you were guaranteed to come across at least five each time you scrolled on Instagram. The concept of them is beautiful – a big fluffy coat that hugs you like you favorite childhood teddy bear. They sell themselves.

In typical Avery fashion, I didn’t hop on the trend immediately until I saw a brown biker version in the ASOS after Christmas sale. It stopped me in my tracks and I added it to my cart without thinking twice (which is very unlike me). I was looking for a coat or jacket that wasn’t black and this one fit the bill, especially with it’s shape that mimics my all-time favorite black leather jacket.

I got this jacket in a size 8, but I think I’ll size down to a 6. It’s definitely meant to have an oversized fit to it, but my regular size was a little too oversized. If you prefer a fitted jacket altogether, this is not the one for you. I love the casual style of it as well. It’s definitely one of those jackets you can throw on and not think about too much, but looks like something you put a lot of effort into. That’s my jam.

Next is this Levi’s Sherpa-Lined Corduroy Jacket. It’s actually my boyfriend’s, but what he doesn’t know is that it’s also mine *evil villain laugh*. I’ve been looking for a denim version of this jacket for awhile, so when I saw that style in a camel corduroy version I urged him to buy it. It’s worth the money if we can both wear it, right? We snagged it at the Levi’s outlet for half the price. If you have an outlet mall near you, save your pennies and grab expensive items there at a much lower price.

It obviously has a more boxy fit on me since it’s a men’s size, but to be honest, I don’t see a big difference in the men’s fit vs. the women’s fit in the same style. So if oversized is more your speed, opt for the men’s department on this one. The entire coat minus the sleeves is sherpa-lined so it keeps me nice and toasty during these bitter cold early months. I like to wear neutrals underneath and let the jacket be the statement piece. It would also look great and complete the 70s vibe with a vintage band tee underneath. Speaking of which, if you know where I can find a vintage Led Zeppelin t-shirt that isn’t ridiculously overpriced PLEASE let me know. It’s on my bucket list.

What were your favorite 2018 style trends? Did the teddy coat or sherpa-lined jackets make your list? Trendy or not, I know I’ll wear either one of these jackets for winters to come.
