I can’t believe 2019 is right around the corner. The end of the year always seems to sneak up on me. Can anyone relate?
New Year’s Eve is the one time of year you can dress up as a human disco ball. Wanna wear a full sequin outfit? Go for it. Have an old glitter jacket sitting in the back of your closet? Throw it on. I tend to go for the less is more approach, but still throw in a little glitz.
Staying in with a small group of friends is more my speed now on News Year’s. I’m starting to turn into a grandma and that’s a-okay in my book. But if you’ve got a party on your agenda, here’s a few of my tried and true party outfit options. Most of these pieces are old, but similar options are linked in the photo captions below.
New Year’s Eve Outfit Ideas

I wore this one shoulder polka dot jumpsuit to a winter wedding last year and received so many compliments. I knew it would be something I would wear to a lot of future evening events, including any New Year’s Eve parties. This is a versatile option that will carry you from dinner to the champagne toast at midnight.
The sweetheart neckline is flattering for bigger busted ladies like myself, but still offers a bit of coverage with the polka dot overlay. So if you’re planning to hit the dance floor in an outfit like this, you don’t have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction. The best part is obviously he polka dot overlay. It ties on the side to create a slimming silhouette and acts as a nice coverup for your inevitable food/champagne baby.

The best kind of party outfit is both stylish and comfortable. I will not compromise comfort for looks, so don’t think you’ll find me out in Louisville in a body con dress happily sipping a cocktail. This gold and black glitter jumpsuit is the epitome of style, comfort, and a human disco ball all in one. I’ve had it for years now and it has never failed me as the perfect party outfit. The entire jumpsuit from head to toe is stretchy and clings in all the right places. I would even wear this to a casual New Year’s get together. Add a black blazer or black leather jacket on top for a little more coverage.

This red and black combination would be great for a family New Year’s get together or a casual round of drinks with friends. This red H&M blouse is also another piece I’ve had for years. I usually only wear it around the holidays, so it’s a great pop of color around Christmas or New Year’s. I love this black skirt from ASOS because it can easily be dressed up or down, which is something you’ll want if you’re not sure about the dress code at your New Year’s party. Dress it up with a blouse like this and heels or down with a chunky knit and knee high boots.
Whatever you wear this New Year’s Eve, bring a pair of backup flats and don’t wear anything that will restrict you from dancing. These are the rules, ladies and gents.
