Alright people, we’re officially less than one week until fall. I don’t know about where you live, but Louisville has been HOT, hot, hot so far this September and I am completely ready to say goodbye.
Goodbye underboob sweat. Goodbye tank top and shorts routine. Goodbye strapless bras.
Hello blazers, sweaters, and boots. Come to mama.
You all know I wear black all year round, but black really makes a splash in the fall. So in today’s post I wanted to share three ways I styled my black Madewell jeans. I hope you find this post helpful and reference it when you’re planning your own fall outfits.
Enjoy!
DENIM ON DENIM
I’m a big fan of this version of a Canadian tuxedo and fall is the best time to bust it out. Denim on denim is a classic for a reason. It’s versatile, easy to put together, and effortless.
I was inspired by a search on Pinterest for this outfit. Black on black underneath and a blue pop of color on top. Unfortunately (and fortunately) none of these items are new. The purse and jacket are from a local consignment store and the rest is last season, so I’ve linked similar products above.
You could also swap out the black boots for brown with this look and trade the black turtleneck for a looser fitting cream sweater. That’s the best thing about neutrals – you can mix and match them easily.
LEOPARD LOOK

So at this point the entire Instagram community has called leopard print a neutral, and guess what? They’re absolutely right. I’ve been a leopard cheerleader since high school. A touch here and there is what we all need, and I think I’ve found the newest addition in this cardigan.
I would love to link this exact cardigan, but it’s from the great abyss called TJ Maxx, so that’s impossible. However I did find a jacket cardigan version from J.Crew that’s just as gorgeous.
Leopard print adds a perfect extra something to any outfit. To me it’s not a loud print at all. It’s a subtle hint of sexy. It grabs your attention without screaming. It’s simply one of my favorite patterns to wear (and maybe the only true pattern I often wear).
THE CRISP WHITE SHIRT

There’s certain items everyone needs in their wardrobe and that’s a crisp white button down shirt. The Parisians have owned this trend for years and years because it always works.
There’s an endless amount of ways to style a white button down shirt, but for this look I kept it simple. The leopard belt adds some dimension and the lace bralette underneath adds what I like to call “classy sexy.” Poetic, I know.
This is an outfit you can easily take from day to night, during the week or weekends. Swap out the accessories for a completely different look if you like. A silk scarf would look beautiful with this as well.
I got these rich camel-colored leather ankle boots in the Anthropologie summer sale and absolutely fell in love. I knew they would be my go-to boots for fall, so they were worth the splurge. That means that they’re not available to link above anymore, but I found a close pair I would buy if not for these.
I can’t wait to bring you all more fall content soon. It’s truly my favorite time of year for everything from decor to style to activities. Let me know specifically what you’d like to see.
