The holiday party season is here and that means glitter, sequins, and sparkles of every kind. Sometimes all at once. But if you’re anything like me, the best holiday outfit is one that looks like you put a lot of effort into, but actually just threw on a red festive lip.
This year I’ve really been into blazers. They instantly give off a polished look with minimal effort, just like my trusty red lip. The blazer trend is far beyond the basic black, gray, or tan. Shops like Zara, Mango, and ASOS.com have taken the trend and given it a holiday spin with tartan prints, understated sequins (is that a thing?), and bold colors to stand out amongst everyone else sipping eggnog in the corner.
I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites and I’ll be linking them in the captions below. Tag me on Instagram (@averywalts) with your favorite blazer and show me how you’re wearing it this holiday season.
MANGO

Mango is a recent brand I’ve found from other fashion bloggers and it didn’t take long to fall in love with the hype. Mango equally sticks to classic shapes and trend pieces. They have a good mix of feminine and not-so feminine pieces, and kill it with basics in lots of neutral colors. The blazer selection in particular this season offers an atypical range of options for holiday parties.
[LEFT] Mix it up in a navy blue and green plaid print. This blazer would work well for a work holiday party or a networking event. It’s just different enough to stand out.
[MIDDLE] Nothing screams holiday quite like red. This red linen blazer is simple to throw on and will keep you cool when things start heating up after a few glasses of champagne.
[RIGHT] Have a blue, blue, Christmas like Elvis in this blue corduroy blazer. Sorry, I had to take that pun opportunity. Stay warm and cozy and channel a 70s vibe all in one in this blue number.
ASOS

ASOS.com is always my go-to destination to see what’s new from a number of brands all together. And they did not disappoint in the blazer department this season. They’ve got a ton of options in all kinds of patterns and colors to fit any party you’re attending. Here’s a few of my top picks.
[LEFT] Why not match the alcohol you’re drinking in this champagne satin blazer. To be honest, satin is not the most flattering, but in this blazer I would make an exception. It’s too fun not to like. If you’re feeling brave, grab the matching pants.
[MIDDLE] So this blazer is definitely a statement piece. Wear it to the party where you know it will be appreciated because it needs to be appreciated. You’re guaranteed to not find anyone else in this rainbow velvet sequin blazer.
[RIGHT] This bubble gum pink blazer can be worn all year round, but I think it’s a great break among all the green and red. The fit of this is gorgeous as well. It nips in just slightly at the waist, but is still baggy enough to feel comfortable.
ZARA

I don’t shop at Zara often, mainly because there’s not a store anywhere near me. I couldn’t help but check out their blazer collection since they’re always on the cusp of new trends. I was not disappointed. Black and gray blazers dominated the page, but they’ve got blazers in every texture, length, and color you could want. Even the snakeskin print that’s been so popular this year. Here’s a few that I would want.
[LEFT] Plush black velvet. I’ll take anything and everything in this fabric for winter. This velvet blazer looks luxurious and understated. If I had it my way (and wouldn’t need ten pounds of body tape) I would wear it sans bra underneath just like the model. I think that’s such a classy, sexy look when done correctly.
[MIDDLE] A tweed jacket is timeless. Pair it with this blue and red checkered print and you’ve got a holiday party winner. In fact, you could wear it any time of year. I like that it kind of has a more masculine shape as opposed to something super feminine like a Chanel tweed jacket.
[RIGHT] Everyone needs a shiny blazer moment and this black shiny effect blazer fits the bill. Holiday parties are the perfect excuse for something loud like this. And if the party doesn’t come equipped with a disco ball, you can stand in the middle of room.
Those are my top picks for the blazers you need this holiday party season. Any of these would look great paired on top of a dress you may already have in mind. But if pants are more your style, any of these blazers will be a statement piece to add on top. Step into any room this season and add a bit of sparkle.
